Gay Penguins at the zoo

Katie had heard that the Central Park Zoo had gay penguins so the day we went I asked the man in the Penguin exhibit. He told us that there had been a gay couple, Roy and Silo. They split up recently though when a couple of new females were introduced to the exhibit.

So I searched online for a few links to articles about the couple. Here are the links.

Central Park Zoo

We didn't get a lot of pics, but Katie did take some while we were at the zoo. We got to see the zoo keepers feed the Sea Lions and the Penguins which was really cute. Here are the images from this.

Fung Wah

So today I am going home from NY. I am currently in some internet cafe type thing in Times Square. I am so tired, Katie and I did so much this weekend. Tonight will definitely be a night in which I am early to bed.

Jordan hurt his hand yesterday playing football, which I had a feeling he would. Haha, but it's not as bad I guess as Katie and I were this weekend. We kept tripping and stumbling at EVERYTHING. i nearly fell flat on my face at Canal St. We were walking up the stairs and my flip flop hit the step instead of clearing it and i went forward. I think it was one of the scariest moments for me in NY. Nearly busting your face on the cement is horrifying.

My bus leaves at like 2 or 2:30, so I am leaving Times Square around 1 30. Maybe I will finish my book on the ride home. I got a lot of it read the first go round, so maybe I will this time too.

Katie's apartment is so cute. It's small and cozy, her bathroom is huge. I think I am going to try and come back up here on the 15th of October, go to a ballet with her or something. That way I will have friday with Jordan and everyone and then Saturday and Sunday with her. I don't know for sure yet, but I would like to come down once a month or something. I hope she can come up to our place again really soon. It is the best thing in the world having family so close to us.

Well I am going to close this post because my time on this computer is almost up.

New York New York

Tomorrow I am going to NY to visit with Katie and we are going to the Central Park Zoo and shopping. I can't wait to go to the zoo, the last time I went to one was in 2002 when Jordan and I had just started dating.

I am going to try and take as many pictures as possible. I want something to scrapbook when I get back. I might see if I can take Jordan's camera with me. I can't wait to get me a small camera to use for things like this. I love our camera's, but I just want something smaller for me to use. I am in this mood of not liking my film SLR camera. It is big, and you have to take a roll of film before you can see the pictures you took. It's just too much of a hassle in some cases. I wish i could sell it to a nice camera store some days. I paid too much for that camera to not use it though.

Mawmaw came home today from Moses Cone. She is doing great, her heart rate got back to normal rather fast. I am glad she is doing good. We sent her a card hopefully she will get it soon. I guess we should send her some flowers. I hope her pacemaker is something that will help with her heart problems.

So how about Hurricane Rita? This is CRAZY. I feel so bad for all the people in the gulf coast region. They have been hit so hard so many times in the past 2 years. These past 2 ones have been enormous and scary. I am glad Frances and Jeanne weren't anything like these because Orlando, and it's surrounding cities etc would have been destroyed. The gulf coast has just had some sort of target on it since last year. I remember the one that hit the panhandle when we were in florida, and I remember thinking that it was something i didn't remember happening when we were growing up. When we were kids we always thought that the east coast like our beaches in NC and Florida were the only places that got hit. Boy were we wrong, uh?. It's crazy to think how awful these two hurricanes have been. Katrina and now Rita, is about to hit. It's crazy. I just hope that since the storm has turned that people aren't being caught off gaurd. I kept telling Jordan and Angie that it was going to turn, that they needed to be evacuating the people in SW LA, and SE Texas. I hope everyone stays safe through this one.

Hopefully gas doesn't go up a lot this time. I got gas in Newburyport and it was 2.83 a gallon, which I should have stopped at another station that had it for 2.74. It is crazy how much it goes up.

Poor LA, I can't believe it is feeling up again. I had a feeling this would happen though. I have felt sick just thinking about all the hardships these families are going throuh.

Almost forgot about the bus that caught fire today. That just made me think of all the buses we've seen in our lifetime that have been blown up in the Middle East. It didn't look like a scene out of America, it was weird.

Well I will let everyone know how NY goes.

Night in Boston

So we had Katie here with us over the weekend and we went into Boston with Jaime and Chris. We went to this nice place called Marcellos, it had a combination of food. It was awesome. the food was great, the wine was tasty, and the sweets were to die for.

This website has the image and everything from it.

It was SO good. After dinner we went back to Jaime and Chris' house and had some drinks, us girls talked about books we've read and then around 2 am we went home for a long nights sleep. Haha, not really.

Katie and I got up and went to Wal-Mart and Dunkin Donuts. It was an early morning. We had a good breakfast and watched Sex and the City the rest of the day. I cried most of the day after that because it was sad and knowing that it no longer comes on is so sad.

First days in Newburyport

So I have kept Christian twice now, and it's been great. The first day was rough, he didn't know what was going on. It's so hard for some babies to get used to new people. He did pretty good though, after noon he was handling it a lot better. I took him on a short walk and I think he enjoyed that, he was cooing a lot during it. Today was much better, he was laughing and happy for the most part. I think yesterday he was in like shock about their being a stranger holding, feeding and putting him to sleep. He is such a sweet baby though. I can't wait to see how he grows.

Angie made him the cutest little knit cap. I don't have a picture of the actual one, but I do have a link here for you to see what she made. It's called an umbilical cord cap. They are SO adorable.

Tomorrow I am keeping him from 5:45 til around 9:45 while Jessica and Mark go to something with the church.

Well I'll have pics from the weekend up sometime I'm sure.

Here is the link for the knit cap. I found 2 different ones.

China Town Bus

Katie is coming here again this weekend. I can't wait for her to come this weekend. I am working this week, and friday night after I work I am going to Boston to get her from the station. Then we may go over to Chris and Jamie's house for a while and to get Jordan.

Saturday I don't know what we will do, we might go to Salem, or something. We may try to find the Chick Fil A in Nashua. It'd be nice to have some polynesian sauce.

Next weekend I'm going to NY to see her and to see her new apartment etc. I am pretty excited about that. I haven't been to NY since 2003 when she was in Chelsea. I think we are going to go to a museum and maybe the central park zoo. She is going to also take me to the restaurants that she likes etc. I am so excited about it all.

Yay for family being nearby!

New Job

So I got a new job, I'm going to be taking care of a baby boy for a family in Newburyport. I am very excited about it. Over the weekend they took Jordan and I out to eat to Not Your Average Joes, and we had the best burgers. We had a great time with them, and I think Jordan enjoyed getting to see a baby. We both have missed being around the kids so much.

Friday night we went over to this guy name Chris' house, he works with Jordan, (he's the one that helped break the couch to fit it in the apt.) We get along with him and his wife Jamie pretty well. They live about a minute from us here in Methuen, she teaches in a nearby town.

We are loving it up here so far, it's beautiful. We love the weather and our apartment. I don't know what we are going to do at christmas yet, we might go home. Depends on if we have the means to. Who knows what we will do at Thanksgiving? Maybe we'll just have everyone here. Who knows?

Plum Island

So today Jordan, Katie and I decided to go to the Newburyport, Plum Island area of Ma. We slept late, but we still had plenty of time to go to the coast for a little bit. It was nice to get our toes in the sand. The water was freezing, but we just went to get some fresh air. It's beautiful there. So the following are images that Jordan and I took while we were there. The beach is huge, takes forever to actually reach the water. There were giant seagulls, fishing boats, lots of fisherman, a lighthouse, and peace and quiet. We loved it. We hope to get back there again before it gets too cold to get the sand between our toes.
